Orange Cottage
Orange Cottage
I love this piece as it's made the trip around to a bunch of different rooms in our apartment over the past few years. I can't help but to think of the classic summer hot day snack, the Creamsicle when my eyes lock-on. I realised I had never googled a "Creamsicle" and I wanted to change that, today, so I did and I came up with the following information.
It's a trademarked name. Similar to Kleenex or Q Tips or whatever the third instance people often use (Creamsicle?) to explain this, Creamsicle is a registered trademark of Unilever, the same people that own 'Fudgesicle' and in general 'Popsicle' including an entire person, Peter, commonly known as Popsicle Pete.
The first 'creamsicle' was invented in 1905 by an 11 year old boy experimenting freezing fruit juice around vanilla ice cream. Creamsicles are so entwined with Western pop culture, there is an official day designated in celebration of it. The Creamsicle is celebrated every year on August 14th. One thing I learned while googling around was of the existence of the 'Dreamsicle', which I've never heard of. According to the world wide web, the only difference between the two is the Creamsicle uses Ice Cream as a base and the Dreamsicle uses Milk.
Another thing I learned while surfin the web was that the term 'Creamsicle' is a derogatory term often used to mock someone who spends too much time tanning, leaving them with an artificial and orange appearance. With this piece you don't have to worry about that.
Orange Cottage lets just the right amount of sunshine into your room, a depiction of a breezy autumn day, water flowing, clouds roaming the open sky above with not a drop of tanning oil on your skin but the feeling of day spent baked in the sun.
