Green Lady
Green Lady
Green Lady is another piece I've collected that remains a mystery. One unfortunate scratch down the front of the painting (visible in photos) drops this to a B- on condition but the rest of it has held up extremely well for a piece of this size. I have nothing to go by to identify this oil painted on canvas with a wood frame other than the signature "Abbott".
I'd love to know who this woman is, green-grey face and all. I don't feel like that's ever going to be possible so I fed an AI bot some details about her and this is what it spat out...
In a dimly lit gallery, amidst the elegant chaos of vibrant canvases and whispered conversations, stood a woman shrouded in mystery. Her name remained a secret, lost amidst the layers of her enigmatic aura. With a countenance both striking and somber, she bore the weight of her existence with a quiet grace. In her forties, she possessed an allure that transcended mere physical beauty, her short, jet-black hair framing a face adorned with subtle makeup that hinted at a silent struggle. Clad in a sleek black dress that cascaded down her slender frame, she wore a long pearl necklace like a beacon of lost elegance in a sea of modernity.
Despite her outward success, evidenced by the presence of a painted portrait capturing her likeness, there lingered an unmistakable emptiness in her gaze. Perhaps it was the melancholy curve of her lips or the haunting depths of her eyes that betrayed a soul weary of the world's relentless demands. In the hushed gallery, she stood as a paradox—a symbol of achievement veiled in silent sorrow, a masterpiece yearning to be understood beyond the strokes of a brush.
Hey, it works for me, for now.
