Eurasian Blue Tit
Eurasian Blue Tit
I found a pair of these nicely framed needlepoint pieces two towns over a few months back. Alongside Two Bluebirds, these pieces are an example of some of the newer embroideries I've come across, which certainly speak to the quality of the framing.
Reverse Image Searching leads me to believe these may have been from two different sets with the grey wool replacing a white background the original pattern would have suggested, a nice decision in my opinion. Â
I wandered around the internet a bit looking at facts on the Eurasian Blue Tit. As far as I'm concerned, I may have seen one while travelling, but I can't be sure if I've ever seen one in the flesh. I knew very little about this awkwardly named bird, but I thought the following was interesting...
"In 20th-century Europe, when milk was delivered in glass bottles to the doorsteps of homes, Eurasian Blue Tits and Great Tits learned to puncture the bottles’ foil caps to drink the high-fat cream that floated to the top."
