I really like the colours of this piece, and I think that vibrancy dates it pretty firmly as one of the newer objects in the shop, likely created sometime in the late 1980s. I believe it is supposed to be based on a Pierrot clown (there's a lot to explain) but I initially, and continue to believe my own lie that this is a needlepoint piece depiction of a fortune teller. The main supporting theory is based on the inclusion of the crescent moon and general celestial....ness, to the negative space around the character in the piece.ย
Now, being into the night sky doesn't mean you're into astrology and even so, being into astrology doesn't mean you have any actual ability to perceive future events, but there was a loose thread in that connection and I had mentally decided to run with it. ๐ฎ
