This is a perfect sized, hand embroidered crewel piece in great shape with a nice aged wood frame. An embroidery pattern that leans into the highlights of a fall harvest, with pumpkin, apple, flowers, squash and miscellaneous gourd represented to kiss the Summer goodbye and welcome Autumn up to the plate.
Speaking of plates and Autumn, do you have a favourite pie?
I don't think I do as honestly, I don't like Pie. It's the mushy container part that reminds me of eating a soggy, wet and undercooked Pizza Pocket as a child (my fault). Speaking of Pizza, they got that right. Lay the ingredients on a piece of flat bread and just cook it. Let me see the ingredients when I eat it. "Oh, are there green olives on that? yes, I can see, let's take them off". Repeat with Anchovies or Pineapple or whatever you don't like on a pizza. Outside of stuffed crust endeavors, it's got to be one of the most visible and honest of cuisines.
Now with a Pie, I feel like all of that stuff stays hidden. It's like carrying a big backpack into Best Buy. "Hey!, we ask that maybe you leave your bag at the counter while you brow..." you know the drill. Plenty of foods come in an easier to handle container, a sandwich, a burger, those comical slabs of animal cavemen cartoon characters would eat with the big bone (a Tibia? a Fibula?). A pie's container isn't meant to carry or hold or assist in the eating process. It's there to shroud the inside content. It's almost secretive. I don't trust the inside of a pie, it's substance cloaked to all senses but smell.
Despite my feelings on Pie(s), I acknowledge their place in culinary history. I honour the time tested traditions of baking, and I'll take your word for which one is best.
