Cherry Blossom River

In the springtime and at least since the inception of city-based blogs along the lines of Torontoist or BlogTO, Torontonians have gone absolutely nuts when the cherry blossom trees bloom. An average cut through Trinity Bellwoods Park on your way to work or to catch up with a friend might take you 10 or so minutes under normal circumstances but when the cherry blossom trees are in bloom, you can expect to add at least a 5 minute delay to your pedestrianized commute. 

What I was surprised to see once I removed my city-glasses and left the big smoke was that further out, 45 minutes or so, these things are incredibly common. There is one in a yard four or five houses down from where we live and it draws absolutely NOBODY. Nobody stops their car and gets out. People walking by brush the branches from across their face like it's a nuisance. 

There’s one in the park behind us as well and I’ve never seen anybody selfie in front of it let alone pay it any attention. While once, a cherry blossom tree felt like an incredibly communal item, shared by the masses, now when I come across them I feel like I’ve got the time to appreciate them. This beautiful original oil painting gives that same feeling of coming across a river bend supported by a strong and thriving cherry blossom, no crowds, no camera shutters, no hiding your face from becoming the background subject in a stranger's Tik Tok.

The top and right sides of the frame of this painting have spilled peach paint on it. I've kept it because it's a reminder of the room it once occupied, as well it works with the flowers on the tree. It's reflected in the 4th photo viewable and also the price and condition rating.
