I was kind of dejected when my wife pointed out to me, "you know, this is plastic right?" and handed it over to me. I mean, it would be an incredibly impressive piece to be hand-carved in wood. In a haze, I didn't even consider that the tiny tiny text names of the locations would have been incredibly detailed and skilled work. You ever have those moments when your brain just like..... . .. ..... >>> ..... >>>> ....  .. .. .. .  and then you're like, "oh yeah, of course" and the world is just a little tiny bit more clear, even if that happens to be paired with slight disappointment. 

I mean, it doesn't matter that this isn't ACTUAL hand carved wood. If it were, I'd probably have priced it much much higher. Billions of dollars. It's still got all the hot spots you'd want to see in California like LAX, The Golden Gate Bridge, the Hollywood Bowl and notably, the Movieland Wax Museum.

The Movieland Wax Museum opened in 1962 after an inspiring visit to Madame Tussaud's in London. After operating for decades, the museum went out of business in 2005 with most of it's figures being auctioned off the following year. The fate of the current site of the Movieland Wax Museum seems to be contested in a battle between usage for retail space and becoming a for-profit Butterfly Sanctuary (a Zoo). There's also a Niagara Falls version with mixed reviews.

Maybe rent a car and head up to the Shasta County for the weekend instead. Bring your camera and a few reading options and maybe this bowl too, to hold your keys, your charging cable and your wildest dreams.
