I get really stressed out whenever I'm in a boat and it's got to leave either a dock or some sort of harbour. If you've ever watched a leaf float along in the water, at times the current is invisible from dry land and it just looks like it's being pushed and pulled without any rhyme or reason. I think of this when I'm on a boat and I can feel the water moving below me. I think about how that boat is like, 1/1000th of the area around it, if you're lucky. If you're on a Great Lake, 1/100,000th? 1/1,000,000,000? I'm not sure how to calculate how much volume the inside area of a boat would remove from the lake it sits within, and frankly it does my head in quite a bit trying to.

I feel like the people in this textured lithograph print must have felt that way as well. There's a very good chance they have the benefit of not having to deal with a motorised vessel, but what is worse? The possibility of human error or putting your faith and trust in the most nautical of nature events?ย

I think the answer is too subjective to have a definitive response, but what I do know for sure is that this piece has a great frame to it. Don't ask me about boat math tho!
